Brilliant story of twin telepathy, and how it works, if it works, and the mystery it helps to solve. Excellent read as are all of this author,s books. GinaK

Terrific thriller. Curl up on a rainy day and enjoy Mary Higgins Clark doing what she does best...weaving a suspensful tale of kidnapping, twin telepathy and a mother who doesn't give up when all trails point to a death.

One of those books that reads like an action movie. I found myself moving forward in the seat just like at a good movie where I'm anxious to found out what happens to everyone!
Helpful Score: 7
True to her other books this one grabs you right off. Reminds me of her first one "Where are the children" Highly recommend this one.
Helpful Score: 7
Clark is best when she writes of children in jeopardy, and this one includes the eerie twist of psychic communication between identical twins.
Helpful Score: 7
Great Mary Higgins Clark mystery dealing with identical twin 3 year old girls. After they are kidnapped the race is on to find them and bring then safely home. In the end it proves that crime does not pay! Very good read.

As a MHC fan, I have to disagree with the other reviews I've read here. I found this book to be a complete bore. I got through it, but it was very predictable and that's 5 or 6 hours of my life I'm not getting back! LOL
Helpful Score: 5
This book was just OK to me. I read it in about 3 evenings, and suspected the author cracked out this book in about a week. Not particularly moving, this book was a somewhat decent way to pass time instead of reading old copies of People magazine or other such nonsense.

This is a must read. I love Mary Higgins Clark and she does not disappoint in this book. It keeps you guessing and wondering. Wonderful!!
Helpful Score: 4
You won't know who the Pied Piper is until the very end. I liked this book because I couldn't tell who it was. Good book.
Helpful Score: 4
This book was very predictable and also it seemed that "surprise" information just came out of the blue (no pun intended). If this had been my first MHC book, I probably wouldn't read another. It was, however, light reading and would be good for taking to the beach, or for a teen who is ready for this type of fiction. There are no bad words or graphic scenes. I read this b/c I have twins. The 3-year old twins in the book were not realistic b/c they spoke like older elementary-aged kids. Also, I didn't realize the book would include telepathy between the twins, which was not believable for me.

Moved a bit slow for Mary Higgins Clark. The last third of the book was faster and more to the point. I wanted the story to keep going in the beginning, but she got caught up in rehashing the events and characters.

After feeling disappointed in recent years with MHClark books, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this one. It was reminscent of her first novel, "Where Are the Children?" and it captured the anguish of parents waiting for news on kidnapped twins. The use of twin-communication was interesting, and the pace was quick.
This book was so good. It was so good, that I could not put the book down. One of Mary Higgins Clark's best books.

The only MHC book I've ever read....and it was awesome. Action-packed and suspenseful telling of the kidnapping of 2 little girls.
Loved this MHC book...fast paced, keeps one on the edge of your seat. Will both the twins be found?
Really enjoyed this book about 3 year old twin girls that are kidnapped for ransom.
Excellent, Mary Higgins Clark at her best.
Suspenseful. Being a parent, it was hard to read... but I loved it!
What else can I say but like mother like daughter! They are always exciting to read!
MHC writes a great page-turner. After the third chapter it was a do-not-drop book. I stopped everything and read from cover to cover. Keep it up Mary !!!!!
I absolutely loved this book and could not put it down, I literally finished it in a day. You felt for the mother in this book. Lots of twist and turns.
Another MHC that I enjoyed. This was not as much as a twist at the end as some of the others that I have read by her, but still good. The red herrings seemed almost obvious from the point of introduction, but I had no idea of the actual Pied Piper until it was revealed. Very descriptive writing style and easy to imagine you were there and knew the characters.
This was a great book! She is such a good writer, I couldn't put it down!
Interesting story line!
Interesting story line!
A wonderful suspense that keeps you glued to your seat. Three year old twin girls are taken from their home, the babysitter is unconscious and the parents are frantic. Riveting doesn't do it justice. I read it until three AM.
I enjoy all Mary Higgins Clark books and this was no exception.
Awesome book. Couldnt put it down.
I really like this author and this book meets her past books. GOOD Book
Great who done it story set around the kidnapping of twin 3 year old girls whose bond allows them to "feel" each others moods, pain, and telepathy even when separated by long distances. The story intertwines several other crimes that tie in to the girls' kidnapping. When only one twin is returned after the ransom is paid the search is on for the kidnappers.
If you like Mary Higgins Clark you'll love this book, it is one of her best! Definitely a "can't put it down until it's finished book".
Not surprisingly, another very good book from Mary Higgins Clark. I gave it 4 stars because the whole "twin telepathy" thing is just too unbelievable to me. Although it was vital to the storyline, it just seemed too sci-fi. Still, a suspenseful read that kept me unsure who the chief bad guy was up until the end.
I finally tried MHC and ugh. Whoever named her the "Queen of Suspense" lives in another world or a closet. Characters are flat, dialogue stilted, prose likewise. I could not feel any connection to the characters at all and didn't care about them. I ended up skimming through the last half of the book just to find out whodunnit and it wasn't even a surprise, the way she sets it up. Pity, because the premise is great, but she doesn't deliver. She went overboard with the twin connection and the police procedure seemed lacking. The only reason this gets 2 stars is that I've read worse. I'm not going to be reading her again.
there is happy times in the book, but did some crying , the book is about a family, could not wait to read it ,its almost like a who would do a thing like this book,
A riveting mystery and race against time. Who would carefully plan the kidnapping of a young couples twins and demand millions which they could not possibly pay. Why return one and not the other. Are the twins psychologically connected in ways no one understands?
Really enjoyed this book!
This is a great book. I love the Mary Higgins Clark and think all her books are worth reading
another wonderful suspense from mary higgins clark
Very enjoyable reading - good suspense

One of my favorites!
Mary Higgins Clark does it again! This was a suspense filled ride of a book!!!
Not her best. I found it a little disappointing.

Not a bad read. Quick and holds your interest but no real surprises.
This was a great story! I read it in 2 days!! Definately hard to put down!!
Excellent book that deals with twin telepathy!
I really enjoyed reading this book.
Awesome book. I read it in 1 day. So engaging.
Twin three year old girls are kidnapped, but only one returned after the ransom is paid. The bond between the girls is stretched to the limit, as the returned child can feel her sisters pain. With some longer chapters than Clark is usually known for, she still builds suspense and throws curves into the story.
This one actually bored me. Maybe it was the fact that I waited 4 months to get it from my WL and was just expecting a little more depth.
Wonderful story. Will keep you going from the first page to the last.
Since we have twins in our family, this was a fascinating read.
All I can say is ... Excellent! I read it in two days ... just couldn't put it down!
Great story! I enjoy all of Mary Higgins Clark's books.
Three year old twins, Kelly and Kathy are kidnapped. Kathy is kept by one of the kidnappers but is very sick. Kelly knows that Kathy is still alive because of the twin telepathy they have.
Following all sorts of clues, the FBI and local law enforcement agencies are able to use the clues that Kathy tells Kelly to find her.
This was a pretty good read. I couldn't put it down.

Excellent! The first chapter pulled me in, so much that I couldn't put the book down until i was finished...at 4 AM!
Excellent, fast read.
Another winner from this author. She is one that I automatically buy her books, because you know they will be good.
great book!! twins are kidnapped for ransom... 1 is returned when the ransom demand is met.. the parents are told that the other one is dead.. the twin that is returned has been having "twin talk" with her sister.. Their mother will stop at nothing to find out why her daughter is talking to herself..
I couldn't put it down because I HAD to know what happened!! I read this in one afternoon. :O
Good book
Two beautiful three-year-old twins are taken from their home while their parents are at a party and the baby sitter is overcome by the kidnappers. It's every parent's worst nightmare and MHC excels in showing the anguish Margaret and Steve Frawley feel when Kelly and Kathy are abducted from their own bedroom. The most interesting part of this story, however, is the telepathy the three-year-olds have. When one twin is returned safely and the other one is feared dead, only Margaret believes Kelly is communicating with the still-missing Kathy. But soon the police, FBI, and everyone involved becomes a believer and a desperate chase from New York to Cape Cod ensues.
The chapters are brief and riveting, the characters well-defined, and the suspense all-encompassing as readers experience the trauma and abuse inflicted on the children by the kidnappers. There are lots of red herrings and only the savviest reader may figure this one out before the finale.

Great book by MHC. Read in a day! Loved it! hope someone else will enjoy it as much as I did!
Intriquing. About twin girls and the bond between twins. Very fast paced but realistic.
Are twins really connected telepathocially? Follow along with this plot which explores how twin girls, victims of a plot by the Pied Piper, stay connected while miles apart. Suspencful from the start.
Very good. Enjoyed it.
This was a really good book. It was hard to put down but then again all of Mary Higgin Clark books are that way.

Great suspenseful book! Mary Higgins Clark is a favorite of mine.
I was somewhat disappointed, as I have been with Higgins Clark's past several books. They have become formulaic and somewhat boring. But this book sticks with her tried and true storylines and that makes best-sellers!
great books, one of her better ones
brand new never read it
Good book! But not my favorite MHC.
This book is excellent. I read it almost cover to cover w/o putting it down.

Had a hard time putting this down. Great book.
Chilling.....good book!
Great book!!!!
I loved this book! Mary Higgins Clark never lets me down!
I recently read a book for book club in which some members felt the story line was written with the intentions of it going on the big screen. This is how I felt about this book. It felt a bit too "scripted" and lacked a sense of suspense as the story came to an end. I enjoyed the story but was left wanting more...I don't know...suspense, thrill, surprises, adventure? Overall, an enjoyable read (with a flat ending).
Mary at her best again. If you like her style, this is a must read! Really should be adapted into a movie!
LOVE this author. Great book!!!
A very gripping book. Keeps you guessing to the end. I really enjoyed it.

This was a great easy read.
Bestseller Clark is at her best when writing of crime against children, as shown in this chilling tale of kidnapping, murder and telepathy. Before leaving for a black-tie affair in New York City, Margaret and Steve Frawley celebrate the third birthday of their twin girls, Kathy and Kelly, with a party at their new home in Ridgefield, Conn. Later that night, when Margaret can't reach the babysitter, she contacts the Ridgefield police. The frantic couple return home to find the children missing and a ransom note demanding $8 million. Though the Frawleys meet all the conditions, only Kelly turns up in a car along with a dead driver and a suicide note saying that Kathy has died. But Kelly's telepathic messages from her sister keep telling her differently, and Margaret won't give up hope. Even the most skeptical law enforcement officers and the FBI, who pursue suspects from New York to Cape Cod, begin to believe Kelly is on to something. Clues from ordinary people lead to a riveting conclusion. Rivaling Clark's debut-Where Are the Children?-this suspense thriller is certain to send terror into the heart of any parent.
A real great book

Great book and you don't know who did it until the very end.
