I enjoyed the first book in this series but this one I really didn't. I think a lot had to do with the subject matter - drugs and gangs - and the fact that both hero and heroine had a lot to overcome and that didn't seem realistic to me. Also the romance just wasn't there. They each realized they loved each other early on after probably 2 meetings yet they blew hot and cold the entire book - and with no explanation to the other. He felt he was too bad for her so suddenly after laughing and having a good time he ignores her. Same with her. Then they kiss and she says she wanted him to kiss her all week but, um, she told him earlier not to even speak to her unnecessarily..ookayyy..then he blows cold again. Then suddenly HEA and everything is hunky dory. I think I could've handled the hot/cold stuff but the subject matter of 1) dealing with a heart for teens/preteens in gangs/sex/drugs honestly isn't a mission that touches my heart(and yes I'm ashamed to admit that) and 2) I feel her feelings of it not being her calling had been ignored since she was a teen and one almost cost her her life and I just felt sorry for her I guess.

I will probably read the 3rd book since i liked book 1 and the one in her Noble series but his one made me think too much I guess!
