I have ALOT of unpostable books (ARC’S) in my possession from reviewing. Mostly they are Young Adult novels, but I do have some adult fiction and nonfiction. I’m just trying to find an alternative to recycling and the local libraries are not interested. I have seen others doing a deal with their unpostable books here. I don’t know the rules for this, so if someone can advise me on how not to compromise the Paperbackswap’s Policies but still swap these books I’d greatly appreciate it. I have looked over the Terms of Use, Book Bazaar Tour, and Tips within said "Tour". I’d rather keep the books on my swap shelf to be reserved for those who are actually interested in those titles, and not just a means to get the ARC’S. If perhaps there is a deal with splitting postage/credits/something? Any input is helpful. THANKS! -Kirst

Kirst, try checking out the Book Bazaar, they usually have a lot of deals involving ARC's and you may get some idea's how to get them off your shelf.  Maybe offer a free one with every order.  You could even post that in your signature, too.

what about your local schools? If not puplic, maybe small catholic schools.  My children attend a very small {under 200} catholic grade school and are always looking for books for their library.

Most people make a list of unpostables on their profile and offer 1 with each order. If you are looking to get rid of more offer 2 with each order. Book bazzar also has a place to post ARC's  here are the rules as they wrote them in the thread:

Here is a place to post your ARC's.  We will try to keep this towards the top, but it may not always happen.  Just know that it is here and look for it when you want an ARC or want to post one.

Now, the rules:

  • ARC's are NOT POSTABLE so please do NOT ask for a credit for them.  You may, however, ask for a deal and offer it free with an order from your shelf.  This is at your disgression.
  • Please describe the type of ARC it is (Manuscript, book form, etc.)
  • When your ARC has been taken, please be sure to come back and delete the contents of your post, don't just replace it with 'taken'.
  • Please be considerate and timely!  When you are sending and receiving ARC's be sure to keep in contact with the other person through PM's.  Let them know when it's mailed and when it has been received.  This just makes everyone happy all around! :)
  • If you have any questions regarding ARC's, please check the Help Center or PM me.

Hope this helps and i look forward to seeing your list.

We accept books in good condition for our collection.  Those that do not qualify are offered to our students.  They love to take free books for themselves.  We had a number of old decrepit books that had languished in a book room that created quite a stir when offered before our move.  Just a suggestion that you could offer the school librarian if they do not need them for their collection.

I am a social worker, and we are looking for books for our foster children in giftable condition. It doesn't matter if they are ARC's as our FC will be happy to have books to read. We have children age 2 months all the way up to age 19 in FC. If you have any books that you are willing to donate for a FC's Christmas, please send them to the following address:

Chatham County DSS P.O. Box 489 Pittsboro, NC 27312 ATTN: Theresa Baum

Thanks so much!! Rita.

Just a side note, libraries cannot use ARC's in their collection since they are not the actual book.  So do not try and donate them to libraries more then likely they already have it anyhow.

I would post them on the bazzar its where most would look if they wanted them.
