is the USPS tracking info down again? a book was marked mailed to me on 1/30 and USPS shows tracking but PBS does not. I know sometimes it is behind a little but there have been 4 scans of this book and PBS shows nothing. |

PBS is rarely up-to-date with USPS tracking. And right now, they seem to be having problems with some coding behind the scenes. Like you, I have had packages with five or six scans only show the mailing date here & only include the rest of the UPSP tracking scans once delivered. If you have the tracking number it's easier to just enter it in your informed delivery USPS website and follow it that way. |

I got a book today from Alaska, which showed on PBS that it was in Federal Way, WA, this morning. I received it this afternoon, so PBS is definitely behind USPS. Pat |

Is this problem compounding? Mailed 3 packages (4 books total) over a week ago. Taken to the post office on January 28: 2 were already delivered. Complete tracking on usps.com, but no tracking shown on PBS. I also ordered a book that someone mailed to me one week ago. They took it to the post office on January 29. Package shows complete tracking infomation on USPS nothing on PBS.

I may well be wrong, but I understood that the info on tracking came from Endicia, rather than directly from USPS. eta: Endicia is the PBS online postage provider. Last Edited on: 2/5/21 10:35 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

The tracking information for PBS Postage comes from Endicia, who we buy the postage from. If they don't send the information then PBS can't display it. Then if you mail before your mailing date chosen it will not show up until after that date. |

Thank you very much for the suggestion on Endica. I had never thought of tracking it on that website or realized that PBS may pull its data off of there rather than directly from usps.com. In the future I will double check both sites.... What is really strange is that today all three websites display somewhat different tracking information. The good news: today up to date tracking information appears on PBS for the first time (9 days after mailing). However, it is strange that I personally handed the package to the clerk on Jan. 28 to check it directly into their system but the electronic shipping information did not register till February 5. That normally happens almost immediately. . It seems that this event--"electronic shippping info received-- somehow triggered the appearance of all the data on the PBS website.

Strangely today, neither Endica or usps.com yet show the electronic shipping info notice shown on PBS from 2/5: Endica:
USPS is a bit more complete but still no electronic shipping notice from Feb. 5: February 4, 2021 January 31, 2021, 4:27 pm January 29, 2021, 5:05 pm January 29, 2021, 9:15 am January 28, 2021, 2:54 pm January 28, 2021, 7:13 am I guess the only thing to be learned from this is that everything is still in slight chaos, and we should say a prayer whenever we mail (or order) a book! In my earlier incarnation I was in charge of all book selection for Houston Public Library System and this would have driven me crazy. Thanks again.

One more thing I definitely did not mail the book early. I typed in January 28 on PBS as the mail date and mailed at the post office on January 28. I've learned from previous small headaches that you should not put a later date than the one you actually mail on, since nothing will be tracked on PBS till that later date. |

Mine all have 2/6 as when the shipping info was received. Endicia must have delayed the information until then. All but two have been delivered so the mail moved fast. It seems there was a period of no communication between the sites. I mailed on February 1st. |

it seems to be fixed now. |
