An Unconventional Family Author:Sandra Lipsitz Bem This engrossing book by the author of The Lenses of Gender is an account of her years as an egalitarian partner in a gender-liberated, anti-homophobic, feminist marriage. Bem reveals how she and her husband, Daryl, became gender pioneers, how they raised their two children, and what their experiences-both positive and negative-have to say about ... more »the viability of nontraditional gender arrangements in society today.« less
A very interesting, compelling read by a brilliant academic psychologist, that describes what family life might be like if both parents try to translate feminist values into child rearing practice.
Quite interesting autobiography of an egalitarian family in the 1960s-1970s. Many of the gender conflicts happening during those years have been semi-resolved now, so in a way this book is a historical account.
