I've taken out several Carly Phillips books out of the library this past week(Body Heat, The Right Choice, Under the Boardwalk, Sealed with a Kiss) and been reading them one after the other. Apparently, Carly only has one story in her and all the books are variations on a theme. The heroine will be "running away from her family" for some reason. She has an annoying habit of licking her lips alot which the hero finds erotic. The hero, who often has an injured shoulder, is in law enforcement in some manner, and has had an unhappy childhood in foster homes. The injured shoulder leads to a lot of the heroine-on-top sex. All smooches are full of really gymnastic tongues- including the first getting to know you kiss. There's often an unusual pet involved who is unusually and unrealistically precocious. Seriously, all of these things are present in all three books that I've read. Read one? You've read them all.

Two star at best.

What a great read! A real page turner for me. I loved the characters, including the monkey, Spank who had me laughing. This was my first read of Carly Phillips and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had my interest from the very beginning and I finished it in less than a week (which is saying a lot for me because I am a slow reader lol). I loved Ari, a very smart and somewhat stubborn woman and Quinn who was very sexy with a heart of gold. Great story with some suspense and a happy ending. The only disappointment was it had to end:0)

Love Carly Phillips and this book doesn't fail to bring out the best in her writing. A great book that gives it all... a bit of mystery, a bit of action and a bit of lovin. This is deffinately My Big Fat Greek Wedding kind of funny with a family full of good hearted, if not slightly off, cons and freaks. It is impossible to read it and not fall in love with the entire family. It might be a light read, but it is enjoyable none the less.

This book is the first in Carly Phillips' Costas Sisters Series. Her style in this series reminds me of Sherryl Woods' writing style a bit, and I'm thrilled about that! I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of the second book to the market!

Ariana Costas came from a strong Greek family of con-artists. She escaped to Vermont where she is sad, boring college professor. When her twin, Zoe, disappears she has to go home and find out what happened. Witty, entertaining, and sexy!

Another Costas story by C Phillips. This is about the sister Ariana who is trying to find her sister in Atlantic City.
reviewed Under the Boardwalk (Costas Sisters, Bk 1) on + 533 more book reviews
Ariana Costas, the heroine of Phillips's (The Heartbreaker, etc.) featherweight confection, is a Jersey girl with a wacky family who quickly gets caught up in some potentially dangerous hijinks. Sound familiar? Despite the parallels, Ariana is no Stephanie Plum. Rather, she's a confused, repressed psychology professor who feels like a misfit in her family of eccentrics. But when she learns that her twin sister, Zoe, has gone missing, she reluctantly returns to her family home just outside of Atlantic City. Shortly thereafter, she's shot at and saved by gorgeous undercover police detective Quinn Donovan, who tells her, in no uncertain terms, that Zoe is fine and that she should hightail it out of town for her sister's safety and her own. Instead, Ariana decides to don Zoe's miniskirt and do some sleuthing at the casino where Zoe worked. When Ariana isn't poking around the casino or heating up the pages with Quinn, she's trying to talk some sense into her parents, a pair of lovable Addams family look-alikes who are plotting their next money-making scheme. Phillips's passive prose prevents her protagonists from growing beyond their prescribed roles, and her ham-handed humor contributes little to the story (Ariana's family owns a monkey named Spank, which naturally leads to exchanges like this oneAriana: "Spank who?"; her mother: "Spank the monkey!"). Nevertheless, Phillips's tale is loaded with enough sexual pyrotechnics to light a fire under her fans.
PUBLISHERS WEEKLY REVIEW
reviewed Under the Boardwalk (Costas Sisters, Bk 1) on + 31 more book reviews
Ariana Costas may be a college professor in Vermont, but she's still a Jersey girl at heart - atleast according to her lovable, eccentric Greek family. Then her twin sister, Zoe, disapears and her Jersey roots tug hard. Soon Ari is back home, ducking bullets and, to her chagrin, getting rescued by a hunk in a black leather jacket. Detective Quinn Donovan takes one look at the windblown beauty - and then looks again. If this lady isn't Zoe Costas, it's someone who looks exactly like her. Suddenly, Ari's in trouble deeper than the Atlantic at high tide, and Quinn is trying to protect her without spilling his own well-gaurded secrets...as deja vu just might become the love affair of a lifetime.
