This was an enjoyable tale of the author's childhood in the American South. Her flair for descriptive writing is in evidence, and you can almost smell the sea air and taste the caramel cakes and grits souffle as you read. The story focuses on her relationships with various family members -- parents, sisters, grandparents, aunts -- and old family photos are included among the pages to help illustrate these characters. Highly recommended for fans of the author's previous works, and/or those of Southern living, cooking or gardening. Note: This review was based on an Advance Reader's Edition.
