Unholy Hunger is a fast-moving and compelling read. It is essentially about good vs. evil. Actually, it is way more about evil than good, but there is always that hopethat still, small voice whispering a caution, so I didnt find this book depressing. The lack of overtly graphic details was a relief and keeps the book from being too dark in my mind.

I think these quotes are striking hallmarks of this thriller:

It was an epiphany really, when I stood there and realized that hatred was an able-bodied entity with hands, feet, purpose, and logic. All it needed was an empty vessel, and I had been making room for weeks now.

Empty vessels never stay empty.
My God, my Godwas it true? Is all thats needed a vacancy sign in the soul?

Unholy Hunger deals with difficult subjectspedophilia, vengeance, murder, and parents learning to cope and hold their marriage together while seeking justice for their loss. There are moments of humor and tenderness that often offset the unthinkable, but this is not a sweet and happy story. However, if you are interested in delving into the reading of grittier subject matter, this story is very well written. I recommend it.
