~meh Carpenter, who was LBJ's press secretary, found herself unexpectedly back in the teenager business in her seventies when she promised her dying brother that she would care for his three teenage children. This was apparently intended to be lighthearted and amusing, but misses that mark. I kept asking myself why the children's mother, who was divorced from their father, didn't take on the task, but that was never addressed.
