A quick read, and that's because I couldn't put down the book. Good plot, well-defined characters. Author propels you along and suddenly everything comes together as the loose ends are tied up.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Lisa Jackson book. It's like none of the others I've read by her. Shelby is a rich girl, now grown up, and moves back to her home town (Bad Luck, TX) to discover what happened on the night her child was born. Her father, being no fan of the man he thinks fathered the child, says it died during the delivery. Any witnesses to the birth are dead or moved on. And, we aren't even sure if the supposed "father" of the child was truly the father since Shelby was raped on the same night that she fell into the sack with her lover and town bad boy, half-breed Nevada Smith. And, after the two team up and start asking questions about the baby's birth, bad things start happening.

This book was extremely hard to put down. Even tho it's an older one, I think it's one of Lisa Jackson's best!!

I have read several of Ms. Jackson's mysteries and have always enjoyed them. This book, however, is more of a romance type book with a little bit of a mystery thrown in. I am not usually a fan of the romance genre. However, I did enjoy this book.

The story is based in Texas. A very small town, named Bad Luck, where the past is brought to the forefront due to lies about a 10 year old crime. Was the wrong man sent to prision? Why did a father lie about his daughter's baby dying? Who was/is the baby's father...the secret boyfriend or the man who raped her? Now it is 10 years later...the child is alive, the man is released from prision...everyone returns to Bad Luck...why? How will it end?

Romance, sex and a little mystery thrown in the mix.
