A fast-moving thriller with a colorful cast of characters. The story is evocative of Hitchcock with a protagonist accused of a heinous crime he couldn't have committed. It's set in contemporary Berlin and peopled with the kind of characters who live in the low-rent areas of Europe's capitals today. With every clue pointing at a police detective for the murder in question, he flees custody deciding the only way to clear himself is to find the real killer. Now where'd we hear that before? But instead of being trite, this novel grabs readers with unexpected plot twists and an unlikely team the accused man pulls together to help him clear his name.
