The Valiant Mother. is the second wife of a much older man who has 6 almost grown children. They are missionaries in Jamaica and he gets TB and they go back to the United States. They have 2 little girls about 3 1/2 years old and a newborn 10 days old when her husband dies. This is the early 1900's and women are not expected to work. Mrs Hall has a very difficult job working part-time and raising her two daughters. Much prayer helps her. She tries to explain and teach them about God and how things work on earth. The author Pearl is one of these 2 girls whom Mrs Hall raised on her own. In my opinion by the grace of God she did well with her daughters.
