Does anyone know of  a good vampire book, the good old fashioned, scary, evil kind of vampire? It seems a lot of books out there now are about the good looking, nice, save the world vampires. I do read a lot of fantasy so that may be why I am seeing a  lot of those vampire books these days! Thanks!

Try the Following:

  • Midnight Mass by F. Paul Wilson (by far my favorite vampire novel)
  • The Keep by F. Paul Wilson
  • I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

I agree with Steven. I Am Legend is a great Halloween read. The two by F. Paul Wilson are really good too!!! Steven: Have you read F. Paul Wilson's Repairman Jack Novels?????

I've read The Tomb, but that's it.  It was OK, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as the other two.

I have read most of King's books (except the newer ones) and I loved them all. I think my fave would be "IT". That clown was just plain creepy; I watched the movie this weekend too.  Pet Cemetary was really good too, what an imagination King has, so rare!

I don't get the good "heroic" vampire, it just doesn't fly with me. The only books I can think to recommend are the Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles novels, they are pretty dark.
