ical reflections - the 40 authors create variations on the words bridge and border. Among them are Nobel Prize winners Czeslaw Milosz and Seamus Heaney and promising young literary talents such as Visma Belevica and Juan Manuel de Prada. All make their mark in this volume in renouncing "old prejudices, divisions, hatreds, intolerance and other errors." (Ismail Kadar). These fragments of prose and poetry reveal to the reader the essential values of European culture; the border no longer signifies either limit or barrier: " Poets have never accepted that there are limits to their language." (Iso Camartin). Various cultures are brought together in this volume; Slav, Latin, Anglo-Saxon, Oriental, Latin, Celtic, Germanic.
