I love all of the movies Vincent Price and Roger Corman did in the early 1960's based on the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Actually, I pretty much love any movie that Vincent Price is in, he was so naturally sly and eerie.  So, does anyone else like these movies? What are your favorites?

My favorite has to be The Masque of the Red Death, followed closely by The Fall of the House of Usher and The Pit and The Pendulum.  I would also highly recommend An Evening with Edgar Allan Poe, where Vincent, alone, re-enacts The Tell-Tale Heart, The Sphinx and The Cask of Amontillado, great stuff. Anyone else?

I like The Black Cat, mainly for the scene where Price does that hilarious wine-tasting scene. That's one of my favorite scenes of all-time.

My parents met V.P. when he was touring to promote his book of restaurant reviews (of all things).

Count me in! I love Vincent Price, those movies are the best! My favorites are" Fall of the House of Usher" and "Pit and the Pendulum".

Although it doesn't have Vincent Price, but since we're talking about older horror movies, does anyone else love "Black Sunday" (starring Barbara Steele)What a great movie, so creepy!

What a coincidence... I saw The Last Man on Earth a few nights ago.  Just about all the above mentioned movies were on the Turner Classic channel for a Vincent Price Marathon.   I tried to keep them on as long as possible but my kids kept coming in begging me to change the channel. They absolutely hate when mom watches the old b&ws horrors... but I love them.

I am also a huge fan of the old B&W horror flicks, the original "The Haunting" with Claire Bloom has to be one of my all time favorites, as well as all of the old Universal monster movies. When I was a kid, I use to stay up very late just to watch Chiller Theater, it was always the highlight of my weekend!  I also watched the Price marathon on the Turner classic channel, so cool!

Huuuge VP fan here!!

They are releasing a few new DVDs next month of VP films.

My favorite is hard to pick! Comedy of Terrors is one of the tops though.

Price, Peter Lorre and Boris Karloff...how can you go wrong?? And I really enjoy The Raven too even though it's not much to do with Poe.

Last Man is a terrific film that's like an extended Twilight Zone episode.

And we can't leave out the Dr Phibes films!!

I've got quite a few of the MIdnite Movies 2-for-1 DVDs with his movies, can't wait for the new ones next month :)

I will definitely keep an eye out for them, there are a few I can't find on DVD yet. Would really love to add to my collection!

I've loved Vincent Price as long as I can remember.   Anybody remember The House on Haunted Hill?

House on Haunted Hill (vincent price) was one of my favorites.  I also dearly remember Creature Features (as someone mentioned).  There was another one called Chiller Threatre with a creepy hand coming out of dirt.  I'd watch them all until I was bleary eyed. I especially loved the old italian b&w horrors, usually vampire themed.  I really never found an old b&w horror I didn't like .... well except for the godzilla ones.  I Was a teenage werewolf, I was a teenage frankenstein, the fifty foot women, creature from the black lagoon, the blob, them, the crawling eye....  I loved them all.

Gee sorry, I got so carried away with my memories, I forgot that this was a Vincent Price/ Corman thread.

I absolutely adore Vincent Price.  I first saw him in the movie Laura when I was about 12 and after that I tracked down all the movies of his I could find, House of Wax, Theatre of Blood, House on Haunted Hill, The Abominable Dr. Phibes, and of course the Poe movies.  I used to go to Borders and raid the b-movie dvd section for the double features, I actually just finished re-watching Masque of the Red Death and Tower of London.  They're so good.  I still have some left that I havent seen yet.  Those are: The Pit and the Pendulum, The Bat, Scream and Scream Again, The Oblong Box, and Tales of Terror.  If anyone's seen any of these let me know which you recommend most.  I'm sure I'll see them all eventually, but I'm so busy I'd like any advice I can get on where to start. And if anyone has any books about Vincent Price please let me know, they just don't make horror movie actors like him anymore.

New gem for the Vincent Price freaks out there: I just got the Vincent Price MGM Scream Collection featuring Dr Phibes 1 & 2,  Theatre of Blood, Madhouse, Tales of Terror, Twice Told Tales and Witchfinder General (which I never heard of before but sound really good) plus a  disc of goodies, just in time for Halloween!

I think I remember seeing Witchfinder when I was a kid.  If i remember correctly, it scared the heck out of me and was filled with scenes of graphic torture.  Vincent Price is the witchfinder (and it is based on actual events during the witchhunts) - I think he played a very sadistic guy.

I have to agree about M.  I saw it once years ago and still remember Lorre's face.  I think it is about a serial child killer or molester. I also loved Night of the Hunter.  Robert Mitchum played sickos so well - he was also great with Gregory Peck in Cape Fear.
