A Vineyard family has issues with its matriarch's planned marriage to one of her employees six months after her husband's death. The story has her dictating her lifestory... starting with her riches to rags childhood in 1929-30 onto present day, exploring her heartbreaking losses and varied challenges. Against the background of a working coastal Rhode Island Vineyard, we see 3 generations react to individual and family problems. There's the dyslexic child, the struggling single Mom, a middle-aged unfulfilled daughter, the workaholic son, the vineyard manager with a tragic past, a long-held family secret and even a category 3 hurricane. The author weaves their stories together in an enjoyable journey. I recommend it for a light read.

I love all books by Barbara Delinsky. This was a great one! Great characters and great growth of the characters. Couldn't put it down. A woman who owns a vineyard is marrying the man who runs the vineyard, 6 months after her husband dies. She hires a young woman to write her memoirs, so she can connect with her children who are appalled at her getting married so soon and "beneath" her. Great ending!!

Lovely Delinsky novel with a different Rhode Island vineyard setting. All the elements for several good romances with family histories and dynamics involved. Really enjoy Barbara Delinsky's books and this was no exception.

even though the main character got on my nerves a bit with all her imagining, i could see where she was coming from. barbara delinsky is so great at writing emotions and telling about the characters of her books. i could actually feel her emotions for her daughter and the pain she felt when her daughter struggled. great book!

The descriptions of the vineyard are so appealing that I want to find it and live there! It was a great story with many moving pieces. The characters were interesting and full of secrets which were all shared by the end. Good book to read outside in a comfy chair in a beautiful spot.
