This is a short but satisfying story of a managing female, Lady Amelia. A lightning strike destroys the place where Lord Benedict Sheffield usually holds his annual Christmas ball. He thinks he will have a relaxing holiday without the party. However, Lady Amelia tells him that she can put it on in twelve days flat.
The banter between the main characters carries this story along swimmingly. They are well-suited to each other. Benedict works from 8 till 8 pm and then parties from 8 pm. Amelia is a control freak who has everything memorized or posted in her journals. She never does spontaneous things. Together, she makes him break his ironclad rule of working from 8:00 to 8:00 pm. Benedict teaches Amelia to be more spontaneous.
This is a fun read.
