I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
From Nora Roberts, writing as J.D. Robb, comes a new novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling series. In 2059 New York City, technology and humanity still fight for their place in the world and NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas searches the darkest corners of Manhattan for an elusive killer with a passion for collecting souls...
VISIONS OF DEATH
The summer of 2059 has been long, hot--and bloody. On one of the city's warmest nights, a call from dispatch sends Lieutenant Eve Dallas to Central Park--and into a hellish new investigation. The victim was found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of Central Park Lake. She wore nothing but a red ribbon tied around her neck. Her hands were posed as if in prayer. But it is her eyes--removed with such precision, as if by the careful hand of a surgeion--that have Dallas most alarmed.
As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic, who offers one vision after another--each with shockingly accurage details of the murders. And when Eve's partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With the help of her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another becomes another nightmare...
"Intensely female yet unfeminine in any traditional sense, Dallas has a complex edge that transcends genre stereo-types....Appealing secondary characters add genuine warmth and humor." -Publishers Weekly
Good twist ending in this, # 19 of the ongoing "In Death" series by JD Robb/Nora Roberts.
A psychic known to a trusted friend of Eve comes to her with visions of a murder - with details that haven't been released by the police. Always a skeptic, Dallas is forced to use any resource at hand, no matter how unlikely and unconventional, to turn up leads and stop women from being brutally raped, murdered, and mutilated.
As usual, the villain has some circumstances that make them a sympathetic character, but this book has a little twist as well...
Is a maddened killer all that's deadly out there?
Summer 2059, Lt. Eve Dallas is dispatched to Central Park where a victim has been found wearing nothing but a red ribbon around her neck. Her hands posed as if in prayer, but her eyes have been removed with great precision. As the bodies start to stack up Dallas accepts help from a psychic who provides her with accurate details of the murders. Classic Dallas.
As much as I adore Nora Roberts, when she writes as J.D. Robb she is just as wonderful, in an entirely different way.
The summer of 2059 has been long, hot - and bloody. On one of the city's warmest nights, a call from dispatch send Lieutenant Eve Dallas to Central Park - and into a hellish new investigation
Nora Roberts writing futuristic cop mystery...fun to read.Love the series.
Another of the series of futuristic detective novels. Continues the adventures of Lieutenant Eve Dallas in 2059.
haven't read a single book in the "death series" that I didn't enjoy
Eve Dallas is on the trail of a serial killer, in 2059.
The killer removes his victim's eyes.
With the help of her very rich husband, Eve works feverishly to track down the killer.
I enjoy Nora Roberts "vision" of what the future could look like
in all of her Eve Dallas novels.
Typical Robb - gritty, fast-paced, well plotted.

Loved the book, I really enjoyed that the time frame of the book took place in the future. Roberts/Robb is a wonderful author.
Eve Dallas novel by Nora Roberts, writing as JD Robb. Excellent character development that continues in the series. Set in the near future, story lines are exciting and addictive.
It's the year 2059 and Lieutenant Eve Dallas starts a new investigation. A victim was found by Central Park Lake. She has only a red ribbon around her neck. She looked like she was praying, and her eyes were removed from her face. More bodies continue turning up with the same characteristics. Eve is on the quest to solve these murders!
A futuristic cop and her handsome, rich husband with all his toys...add to that the murders and how Eve can almost put herself in the mind of the killers....A top notch combo
Another great Eve Dallas novel!
Not a bad book in this series. I loved this one as well.
Nora Roberts writing as J. D. Robb
I don't read her books but I understand a lot of people really enjoy them.
Excellent book, was one of my keepers!
NORA ROBERTS WRITING AS J.D. ROBB GREAT FUTURISTIC MYSTERY THRILLER BUT WITH SOME HUMOR MIXED IN.. ANOTHER OF THE GREAT IN DEATH SERIES
Nora delivers again in this great "In Death" book!
Favorite series. Read them all.
The year 2059 in New York City
Eve and Roarke rock!
Reading them all! :)
Lt. Eve Dallas is called to Belvedere Castle in Central Park. A body of a woman has been found on the rocks below the castle. She has been beaten and raped. The red cord around her necks shows she was strangled. But the worst part is her eyes have been removed. As Eve and her partner, Peabody, work the case, another eyeless victim is discovered in another city park. A psychic comes forward offering her help. She seems to know actual details of the cases that haven't been released to the public. Eve will take any help she can get to find the killer before another body is discovered.
Another outstanding addition to this series. This one reads more like a police procedural than the usual story with a line-up of suspects to choose from. We are with Eve as she follows the clues that will lead her to the killer. The dialogue is excellent, maybe even a bit funnier than usual, especially conversations between Eve and Peabody. The twist at the end of the story was unexpected. I recommend this book for anyone who loves this series. My rating: 5 Stars.
Good mystery with a little romance.
As with all Nora Roberts (writing as JD Robb) this book was hard to put down!
Awesome read, hard to put down. another great Eve Dallas book
Nora Roberts writing as JD Robb
Another of her In Death series. Sometimes a little out there but not in these In Death books.
One of the newest in an AWESOME futuristic mystery/romance series. Eve Dallas is a strong, tortured heroine who is a brilliant homicide detective. Her husband is wondeful and loving and mysterious. Strong supporting characters. This book would work well as a stand-alone if you haven't read the rest of the series.
The victim was found on the rocks, just above the still, darkwater of Central Park Lake. She wore nothing, but a red ribbon tied around her neck. Her hands were poised as if in prayer. But its in her eyes-that have been removed - that alarm Dallas.
Another great Eve Dallas mystery. The first victim was found in central park, and more victims show up with the same scars. Eve turns to a psychic for help. Her husband, Roarke, is recruited to help solve this mystery.
On one of the city's hottest nights, New York Police Lieutenant Eve Dallas is sent to Central Park-and into a hellish new investigation. The victim is found on the rocks, just above the still, dark water of the lake. Around her neck is a single red ribbon. Her hands are posed, as if in prayer. But it is the eyes-removed with such precision, as if done with the careful hands of a surgeon-that have Dallas most alarmed.
As more bodies turn up, each with the same defining scars, Eve is frantic for answers. Against her instincts, she accepts help from a psychic who offers one vision after another-each with shockingly accurate details of the murders. And when partner and friend Peabody is badly injured after escaping an attack, the stakes are raised. Are the eyes a symbol? A twisted religious ritual? A souvenir? With help from her husband, Roarke, Dallas must uncover the killer's motivation before another vision becomes another nightmare.
I really like the JD Robb books from Nora Roberts. This is another case for LT. Eve Dallas and more of her inner self is revealed in each book.
NORA, I HATE YOU !!!! Got me hooked on these damned Eve Dallas books. Now I can't put one of them down! Get one in the mail, open it up, and that's all she wrote! Can't put it down until I have read it cover to cover. Don't eat...don't sleep... have all I can do to stop for the potty!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME ????
Maybe I will try NOT opening my next one. Yeh....sure.
All I can hope for is that I might get over this when I finish book 33.
Al Halfrey XX OO XX OO
Not the best in the series, but still entertaining
