Each chapter starts with a matching section. You need a dictionary to find the definition because they're not given in the book. I would rather give the student the definition and have him spend his time using the word. The rest of the chapter activities are excellent: fill in the sentence, choose the antonym, choose the synonym, & choose the right word in context. After every 3 chapters is a review that contains synonyms, antonyms, shades of meaning, complete the sentence, fill in the blank, word families, and analogies. I think my son will learn a lot from this book, so I'm happy with it.
