Watt-Evans is one of my favorite fantasy novelists. I've enjoyed every one of his books I've read, especially in this series, which is tops. Unlike some fantasy series, where the author just writes another book with the same inane plot---I know because I've read those too---Watt-Evans has each book in this series with its own very different story. And although you should read this series from the beginning, that is not really necessary, as each book pretty much stands alone with a different hero or heroine (or both).
