I am leaving my shelf on vaca hold for a little bit, but a couple of times I have taken it off to post a WL book (and put it right back on).  In the two or three times I've done this, a WL book was posted to ME.  I can't figure out why they're only being offered when I take my shelf off hold --  when all of my WL are on auto request and I do have credits available.    If it happened once, maybe I could believe it was a coincidence/timing thing, but it's happened 2-3 times.  Anyone know what's up?

Amy, are there long WL lines, or were you the only wisher? If you were the only wisher and put your account on hold, if someone goes to post the book it would be posted into the system. Then when you took your account off hold, the system would automatically order them for you.

I'm not sure how long the lines were...  I guess that could be it, but I still don't understand why my auto-request wouldn't pick up the book for me?

You're right... if it was AR, the book should have been ordered while your account was on hold. Perhaps you should ask R&R about it? If there is a chance that AR requests aren't being processed while accounts are on hold, they'd want to be in the know.

I thought that the books were standard WL requests... then my scenario above would be correct. If you're sure they were on AR, I'd recommend that you report it.

I've been getting WL books posted to me with my account on hold. The ARs should go straight to an order and if you have any not on AR, then you are passed over and the next person in line gets the book. I think it is just a weird coincidence that's happening or someone seeing your shelf off of vacation hold is posting straight to your WL. There is no way the system would hold a book in limbo for you.

No - it's definitely not a coincidence.  I just unheld my account again to see what would happen, and poof, a wish was granted.  So weird!  I will wait to hear from R&R.

I know!  I guess if this is the biggest problem I have, then I'm doing pretty well!

You might want to verify that all the books on your wishlist are indeed on autorequest.  I seem to remember at some point that when the system put back a canceled request it was being put back non-autorequest, not sure if that is still the case.

Maybe I should put my account on hold and then take it off, and then I'll get some of my WL books...LOL!

That's definitely weird, Amy...I have my account on hold right now and the auto request is working fine! At least, I think it is...I've gotten many wishlisted books since the account went on hold--altho, for the first time I can remember for months and months I have nothing coming to me and nothing in the mail. Weird! LOL

Let us know what R&R say when you hear from them. It would be a pretty weird coincidence if books just suddenly came available the moment you took your account off hold...and they shouldn't even be "offered" to you if they're on AR, they should just be accepted! Hope this gets resolved soon.

Well there does seem to be a glitch. I was noticing I had a lot of WL at #1 for a while so I tested this and sure enough as soon as I took off the hold, POOF! there was a WL hold. This cannot be good. How many books have gone through muliple wishers and ticked off the poster because the AR didn't work?

Off to investigate...

It's still happening to me, too.  I haven't gotten an answer back from PBS yet.

And the frustration continues....  I just "unheld" my account and FOUR (yes, four) WL books popped up for me to accept (and yes, all were on auto-request).  Even weirder, it was not 4 different books - it was duplicates of 2 books -- offered by the SAME person.  Huh?  Same ISBNs.  Something is seriously wrong.  I wish R&R would respond so I could get an answer on this.....

I was wondering about this too...I was browsing the daily digest yesterday and noticed a book was posted that I was #1 for on the WL--my acc't was on hold and everything set to autorequest. I wouldn't have thought too much of it, because sometimes books are posted directly to a buddy's wishlist or something, but then I remembered this thread and wondered if maybe it was happening to me, too. It had been probably close to a week since any of my WL had come up, which is really unusual since I'm #1 for a lot of books and several of them are rather fast-moving ones. So I also took my account off hold, and this morning there is a WL book available to me. It's not the same one that was posted yesterday, but still...

I'm having financial constraints right now and can't afford to mail out books, which is why I had my account on hold...but I have a ton of credits saved and do NOT want to miss my wishlisted books...so I sure hope they get this fixed soon. Do let us know when you hear from R&R about it...I won't send yet another feedback since they already know about it. But I really don't want to have to remove the books from my shelf, which is what I'll have to do if they don't fix this soon, as I don't want to decline the requests I might get...I don't want to lose my place in the FIFO line though, either. :-/

I've noticed it from the other side.  The last couple of times I've posted a wish list book that has said it was on auto request, i've been surprised to see it go to 48 hour offer...then I figured I hit a bunch of people that were out of credits...but maybe not....

Cheryl - it may help if you also send a feedback message about this.  The more people that report a problem, the faster it's gonna get fixed.  I'm afraid my message may have gotten lost in the shuffle (or they think I'm just crazy, lol!).

Cheryl - don't remove your books! You can go in and put the books on hold on your bookshelf instead of doing a total vacation hold. I had mine on hold because I didn't want to send books out right now either, I just don't have the time to go to the PO. I really hope I didn't miss any of my WL books.

Well, Amy, you are crazy, but that's not related to the account problem you're having! :)

Here, have a margarita while you wait. :)

ETA: Melanie, I hadn't even thought of that! Good idea!

Well, the problem I have with sending feedback is that I'm not really SURE it's happened to me--like I said, books that are posted to a specific person's wishlist DO show up in the daily digest, and I really have no way of knowing if that was the case with the book I was #1 in line for that was posted yesterday, or not. I don't want them to think I'm crazy too! LOL

Melanie, thanks for the tip about putting books on my shelf on hold--I haven't paid much attention to the new features they've installed lately and didn't realize I could do that. Awesome, thanks!

ETA: I just went and looked at my transaction archive and noticed that, until this book came up today, I had not auto-requested a book from the WL since Feb. 9th...I didn't realize it had been that long...and that's really abnormal for it to go that long for me. Normally I get at least a couple wishlist books per week. So maybe there is a glitch. I've put my bookshelf books on hold and just left my account active with my WL still autorequested...we'll see if it makes a difference.

Cheryl

Yay!  Sounds like it is fixed.  Today I got this message:

Dear Amy,

Thanks for reporting this problem.  We found the bug, that briefly
affected a few wish list offers (about 50 total in the whole club), and we
have fixed it.

Have a great day!

Thanks, Amy, for updating with this!

I think what I'm going to do though is just leave my account active with all my current posted books on hold...that way, if I finish up a wishlisted book I can post it and not have to fiddle with taking my whole account off hold and then risk getting a bunch of other requests. I mean, I can afford to send a book here or there, just not a bunch at a time like I sometimes get.

Incidentally, the book that I was #1 on the WL for that I saw posted in the daily digest that I "might have" gotten passed over for was posted into the system again last night and I'm now 'waiting for member' to verify that they can send it. All's well that ends well. :)
