Can I pout for just a moment?  I have never received a WL book.

Now I know there is war and famine and poverty all over the world, and this is a small issue.  And I know that I have only been a member for about 4 months or less.  And I know I'm impatient and have gone out to a bricks and mortar to pick up some of my WL books.  And this is not a plea for someone to send me a WL book.

But I have still never had a WL book, for myself or my son.  I wanna join the crowd.  I wanna see what it looks like when a WL offer comes to my account.

Ok, I'm done!

I'm at the bottom of long lists for all of mine.  But there's nothing I'm really desperate to have.  I'm actually hoping none come in for a while.  I have about 300 unread books already and a move coming up.

Julie,

You need to have books on your wishlist if you are going to receive wishlisted books!

You get 200 chances at a time to play the wishlist lottery, you are only using 9 of your slots...

I know Bret, I don't have that many credits so I keep my WL small, to be realistic.  I guess it's a good sign that all the books we want are available and I don't have to WL them.  :>)

Ah man, I wish I could have Julie's extra slots, my Wish List is always at or near capacity with 200 books waiting and almost as many on my Reminder list to convert to Wish List once space opens up.  Once, through a glitch in the system, I had 201 Wish Lish books listed!

Needless to say, I have received some books on my Wish List, and it always makes me a happy camper.  I love this site!

If you hover over the little exclamation point next to the book info in your WL, you will see your place in line.   That will show you that you're actually moving up on the list.   I check mine all the time.   For some reason it makes me feel better; I'm not sure why.  LOL  I have some that I've waited for for over a year, but at least I see progress.  :)

Edited cause I can't spell

I go in spurts when I get no WL books, and now I've got/will get 5 in the last 2 weeks!  You will get them!  Plus I check my WL every day to see if I've moved up!    Hang in there, you'll get one!!

Given the way the wishlist works, you don't really need to worry about having enough credits to cover everything you want.  I currently have 1 credit (with 2 books in the mail and 1 waiting for a wish list person to accept, so 3 pending credits), and about 100 books on my wishlist.  And I've only needed to buy about 20 credits in 2 years.  If you keep wishlist books circulating, you shouldn't run into many problems.

Wish all you want (up to 200).

Julie, the way I look at it is that if I load up my WL I have a better chance of getting some of the books than keeping it small and getting none of the books. You can set your AR to keep level with the number of credits you have for the books you really want and non AR for the others. At least that way you have some that will come automatically via the AR and the rest you will get alerts on. Then you can redo your AR once books are on order.

My wishlist is full and I have about 150 on my Reminder list that I move to my wish list when I get one filled...lol.

The more you have on the WL the better your chances of getting one of those books.

I got lucky--I joined a week ago and had one or two hits off my wish list as soon as I posted it. But I have to wonder how long it will take me to get some of them when there are 75 people ahead of me! LOL.

I looked at your wish list, Julie, and I read Basilica a few months ago (from the library.) It was good--hope you get a copy soon!

Julie:

I agree with you, and it seems that the books on my wishlist are the same ones everyone else wants!   e.g. for the latest Sophie Kinsella book there are 320 people wishing and I am  now number 50 - wow.....getting close !    However, I keep the wish list relatively small for this reason and TRY to find others I  am interested in.  But of course this  takes more time at the computer, which I don't always want or have.

good luck....
