I have read several of McFadden's books this year and enjoyed every one of them but this one didn't quite live up to the others for me. This was the first of her books that I listened to as an audiobook. The narration was well done but I lost my patience with the protagonist, April to the point that I nearly quit. However the perspective then switched to Julie and hooked me again as some of April's ridiculous actions began to make at least a little sense. Things were not always what they seemed. I also felt the end was a bit over the top. But I liked it well enough in the end. It's just the first of this author's books that I was disappointed in.

Where did April's son go when he snuck out of the house? What was April doing with the local soccer coach behind fogged windows? Wha is buried in her backyard? Everyone has secrets. If you keep watching April, you may find out some secrets about April. Secrets she'd rather you didn't know. April's secrets are enough to destroy her. This book starts out slow but by halfway through it turns into something that picks up speed until the surprise ending. The characters were very unlikable as they were all spoiled rich moms. The plot is a bit of a stretch which is mostly silly in places but it's Freida McFadden's book so you kind of take it with a grain of salt. Not one of her best books but it's still ok but very unbelievable.
