A wholly entertaining confection with laugh-out-loud humor. (The, detailed, sexy love scenes and erotic talk kept the pages turning, too.) Recommended at 4 stars.

Charlotte Highwood's mother is determined to marry her off to Piers Brandon, Lord Granville, a handsome but serious gentleman who never cracks a smile. Charlotte feels she should warn him about her mother's scheme, so she tracks him down during the ball. But she and Piers end up hiding behind the curtains in the library where a scandalous tryst is taking place. When the host's young son alerts people to what is happening in the library, rumors are soon flying and everyone thinks Charlotte and Piers are the mystery lovers. Forced into an engagement with Piers, Charlotte knows the only way to set things straight it to find out the identity of the mystery lovers. But Piers isn't sure he wants to end the engagement.
I'm happy that Tessa Dare came back to the Spindle Cove series and gave Charlotte a chance at a happily ever after. Like her sisters in their stories, Charlotte is a smart heroine who is funny, outspoken, and sometimes gets herself into impossible situations. Seeing how happy her sisters are with their husbands, Charlotte only wants to marry for love. Piers and Charlotte have sizzling chemistry that they can't seem to contain. Piers doesn't believe he is capable of loving anyone. Charlotte quickly figures out he's capable of love, she just has to make him see it.
This is a great story with some laugh out loud scenes. I wish the author would come up with some more stories about the ladies of Spindle Cove. My rating: 5 Stars.

What a delightful book! I FINALLY got Charlotte Highwood's story and thankfully it didn't disappoint. I enjoyed the (brief) appearances of Diana and Aaron and Minerva and Colin. Charlotte was an awesome heroine. She's inquisitive, intelligent, and good at reading people. Piers was the perfect person for her. Even though she says it first, I really liked that Piers was the first to "fall." The "mystery" was refreshing, and funny.
The only thing I didn't like: Charlotte is a slob, I didn't quite understand how someone could be so very messy.
