This book is chock full of pictures involving the protagonists, their weapons, churches, and other life scenes. "Charles Ross' superbly illustrated analysis uses all the resource of modern historical scholarship to question the traditional picture of the War of the Roses (English civil strife between the houses of Landcaster and York). He shows us the reality of hand-to-hand slogging matches that made up ost of the fighting, the chilly miseries of winter campaigning, the truth about the number of casualities involved...an acurate and enthralling panorama of the Wars in their impact on English life and the English people."
