I'm listening to this book on CD (unabridged) and so far I'm loving it. I'm making up errands to run just so I can get back to it since I have it in the car.

I really liked it.  I got it from the library, which is a good thing since I bet the PBS wait time is approximately 77 years!  LOL

I just pulled an all nighter and finished this book in 7 hours.  This was the very best book I have ever read.  I am still in awe

I got DH to read it.  He liked it too, though he didn't connect the first scene to the rest of the book.  I can't understand how he didn't see the significance of that first memory!

I really liked the book also.  I also just bought tickets to the Ringling Bros Barnum and Bailey Circus which is coming to Sacramento soon.  We are taking our 12 year old daughter my son and his wife and our one year old grand daughter.

I read Water for Elephants awhile back and have a keeper copy on my bookshelf. My friend who is visiting for a couple of months read it, loved it too and wanted to go shopping immediately to buy her own copy. I gave her mine, got back on the WL and received another copy in just about a month. Now I'm waiting for another copy so I can share with other friends without regrets :) Hmmm...how much do I love this book? Obviously enough to admit that I'm a book hawg :)

I think I would have to say that it was one of my favorites.  I've never really been a big fan of the circus, but this one really brought it all to life.

I read both Riding Lessons and Flying Changes several years ago and loved them.   Loved them so much in fact that I wrote  Sara Gruen's name in a notebook I carry in my purse and would look for other books by her whenever I was in a bookstore.  Not being able to find anything else written by her, I eventually forgot about her and her books.   I joined PBS and heard all the talk about Water For Elephants - had to have it.   I read the book and loved it - LOVED IT!     But for some reason it didn't dawn on me that the author was the one I'd looked for ages ago.  Her next book is due out next year.  I can't wait - wish I could put it on my wish list already!!  Does anyone know if it has an ISBN number yet???

This is Sara Gruen's web site - interesting insight on the new book coming in a year from now!!   Oh - I just put Riding Lessons and Flying Changes on my wish list.  I seldom reread a book but want to read those again and see if my first impression on how much I loved them still holds true.  Sara Gruen - Ape House

I'm on the WL for this book and after seeing how many people there were, I decided that I would buy a copy and maybe put it into circulation here at PBS when I'm done with it. I'm looking forward to getting it!

Just started (and finished) it today.  Amazing book and, while I normally don't say this (even if it is true) I absolutely could NOT walk away from it.  I laughed when I posted my review and saw another review for it two down from mine.  =)

Karin, I find it hard to explain to people why I loved this book so much.  It just draws you in and won't let you go.   One of the great reads I got because I listen to people on here.

Water for Elephants was loaned to me by a neighbor.  I was hooked from page 1.  I think the thing I liked best was that the story was told my an elderly man in a nursing home.

I have to admit that I'd never heard of this book prior to joining PBS.  Now I've added it to my wish list because so many people are talking about it on here.  It's funny because now I'm hearing people all over talk about it too and just a month or so ago, I'd never even known it existed.  I'll be waiting until I'm 80 to get it I'm sure.  haha

I loved "Water for Elephants".  I was surprised because I have found that a lot of books that are touted to be wonderful as just so-so.
