While this is the 7th book in the series, it is also the prequel to the others. I hadn't read the rest, although I have #1 on TBR list.
Parts of the book are upsetting. Unfortunately, it's based on what really happened. Still, once I started it, I had trouble putting it down. It's a very engaging read.
