A wonderfully inspiring tale that's a mix of history and the power you'll find in sisterhood. These women began their Overland journey cowed by their pasts but along the way grew into giants with the strength of ten men. Maggie, Mary, and all the rest had interesting backgrounds, and learning about them was like making new friends. I'm unsure if there ever really was an all-female wagon train, but the detail in the telling sure made it seem so. It was so hard to put down for the pesky interruptions like dinner, laundry, sleeping. If you're interested in anything having to do with early pioneering, their hardships, tragedies, and triumphs, then this is the book for you. 4 stars.
