With the nation entrenched in the Civil War in April 1862,Brenton and Jordana Baldwin travel west to find Victoria and her husband Kiern O'Connor,who is working in the gold fields of California.Brenton offers to provide a safe escort for Caitlan o'Connor,newly arrived inNew York City from Ireland, in the search of her brother Kiernan.The journey will also allow Brenton the challenging opportunity to photograph the developing lands of the west.He receives support from a wealthy backer who plans to use the collection of photographs to entice Eastern investors.Real good book.
