I would love for the Chic Lit board here on pbs to become more active! So...

Let's post on here when we finish good books so others can see some good chic lit recommendations!

I finished

Little White Lies by Gemma Townley (sophie kinsella's sister).

This book was such a fun read and I couldn't wait to get to the end to see what happened, but then again I was sad to see it end! I would love to see a sequel to this book but I highly doubt there will be one. It's a good lighthearted story of how little lies can add up and can make a big mess of things! Great ending too!

I may have to check out some of Gemma's other books now! :)

I just finished Me and Mr. Darcy by Alexandra potter.  I loved this book, it is a modern day version of pride and prejudice with The Mr. Darcy making a appearance in the novel.  Put it on your wishlist chick lit lovers this one is a must-read.

Jennifer, The Hopeless Romantic Handbook by Gemma Townley is also a good book if your interested in reading any of Gemma's other books.

I just finished:

Knocked Up: Confessions of a Hip Mother To Be- Rebecca Eckler.

It was a light, fun read. The main character (Rebecca) is extremely clueless about pregnancy and that is basically the plot.

I just finished 'it's never too late to get a life' by heather estay..someone  here recommended it for 'older 'chick lit. It was funny and there are at least 2 sequels to it that i"m in line for here.

also read a silhouette bombshell titled'sophie's last stand' by nancy bartholomew..not sure if it's chick lit but she's older(in 30's) and  the woman is trying to get her life back after her exhubby ruined it. parts are f unny and there's some romance but mostly she's kicking butt or trying to..good for one of these shorter type books. I'm wantin gto read her mystery series about the stripper. I found this a uthor after someone posted about her mystery series in the mystery forum.

Now I"m thinking about reading a harlequin NEXT title ' holidays are murder'.I've only read a few of these but they dont' seem to focus solely on 'romance' per se but on starting over (though I guess it depends on the invididual book). I read all the Stevi Mittman books in the 'life on long island can be murder' series..most are mystery but the first one I would call more chick lit (though in 30's) than the others..some romance but mostly the mystery/ starting over theme.

I haven't finished it yet but I'm in the middle of Notting Hell by Rachel Johnson.

It's really, REALLY good! It's definitely a British chick lit book since it's taken me awhile to get "into" the humor and understand the terminology -still have no idea what certain things are such as a "rocket salad" but that's half the fun - it's like stepping into the lives of upper crust British society and their trials/tribulations  through the eyes of two women who live there. One whose family is slightly living beyond their means to live there and her childless but TTC good friend, who definitely has enough money to live there.

It's great! I'm not sure what I'm going to read next. I have Little White Lies and I'm getting Three for Cocktails soon (Sophia Kinsella under her "other" name, which has totally escaped me at the moment.

I would LOVE to recommend Robyn Sisman to anyone who will listen to me.  Weekend in Paris is GREAT! I have two of her other books but haven't gotten to them yet.

thanks Melissa, I will have to check that other one out by Gemma Townley!

Susan, I LOVE reading British chic lit. I think it's neat reading their slang! lol  I may have to check out Notting Hell.  I have also wondered before if the Weekend in Paris book by Robyn Sisman was any good. I may have to check that one out too!

Thanks for the recommendations all! :)

As I started to read "Confessions", I didn't think I would like it since the main character was so neurotic and self-destructive. Sometimes I just wanted to strangle her. To my surprise, I still thoroughly enjoyed it and want to read others in the series. IMO it wasn't as LOL funny as a couple other chick lits I've recently finished, It's Never to Late to Get a Life and Nice Girls Finish First are the first two to come to mind, but I still got several good laughs from "Confessions" and look forward to reading more from that author.

I am finishing up "Something Blue" the follow up book to "Something Borrowed". It's cute and a fast read. Anyone else find yourself exasperated by many of the heroine's in the Chick lit field yet you continue reading them anyway? I am so hooked!

I was completely exasperated by the heroine in Emily Giffin's other book..."Baby Proof". The ending just annoyed me to death!

I recently read Slightly Settled by Wendy Markham, it's the 2nd in the Slightly series by her.  Loved it, it was a really cute, chick lit read!!!!  I have the next in the series on my mini-tbr.........Slightly Engaged!!!  :)

Also the 3rd in the Ashley Stockingdale series, With This Ring, I'm Confused by Kristin Billerbeck.  It's Christian chick lit, but not toooooooooo heavy in theChristian aspect.  That was really cute as well!!!

I haven't been reading as much chick lit lately, I kind of burnt out on it, but am starting to read it here and there again!!!

I just finished Love, Rosie by Cecilia Ahern -- LOVED it!  It is written in a series of emails/letters/etc... which I wasn't too sure about at first - but it definitely sucked me in!  It's a great story!

Also just finished Everyone Worth Knowing by Lauren Weisberger (Devil Wears Prada author) -- this is another great book by her!!  It follows a woman who quits her boring job at a bank to become an event planner in NYC - great story and I can't wait for more books by her!

Jennifer....I've read Emily's Reasons Why Not and though it isn't a favorite of mine I still found it enjoyable.  It does take awhile to get into, but alittle past midway it starts getting better.  If your not enjoying it though then I say move on.

I just finish reading Making Mischief by Elizabeth Young, and Losing Gemma by Katy Gardner.  I loved both books.

Losing Gemma kinda reminded me alittle of The Beach(made into a movie starring Leonardo DeCaprio).  The beginning grabs you and you can't put it down.  I picked it up last night on a whim from my tbr list and finished it last night.  I had to find out what happen to Gemma.  It's definitely not a light, funny read but darn it was good.

I don't know if this is technically Chick-lit. But I just finished Conversations with the Fat Girl by Liza Palmer.  Really good book.
