What if you were marooned on an island with all the comforts of home except no radio, no t.v., no phone, and no computer (o-no!)  What books would you want to have with you?  Would you pick books that you never read before or books that you enjoy reading over and over again?........And you were limited to only 10 books.  What would you pick?

(I would pick GONE WITH THE WIND as one of the books.  I've been wanting to read it and have been putting it off!  As for the other 9, I'm still thinking......)

I LOVE desert island lists!  Oh, I'd definitely have books I could read over and over, like Illusions, by Richard Bach, The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz, plus the single volume Complete Works by Shakespeare.  Calendar of Wisdom by Tolstoy - 365 days' worth of great writings and essays, and quotes - has intrigued me since I read about it in The Poet of Tolstoy Park.  As for the rest, still thinking.

I'd find the 10 longest books ever written and bring them with me so that they'd last a long, long, long time.  :-)

Mmmmm I'd pick books I'd already read and know I'd enjoy. I'd pick all 7 of the Harry Potter books, The Stand by Stephen King, Not sure about the other 2.

Hmm... I'd probably pick 10 I have already read.... definitely Count of Monte Cristo, Wuthering Heights, I Know This Much Is True..... definitely Gone With the Wind also. This is a good question. I can't think of the rest right now.

Here is the list I came up with:

THE BIBLE

AGATHA CHRISTIE, FIVE CLASSIC MURDER MYSTERIES

DR. ZHIVAGO

GONE WITH THE WIND

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS (the last one)

THE OUTLANDER (the first one)

PERSUASION (Jane Austens last novel, and I feel it's her best)

THE SHELL SEEKERS (no pun intended!)

THE SINGLE VOLUME COMPLETE WORKS BY SHAKESPEARE ( Eve S., thanks for the suggestion)

WUTHERING HEIGHTS

What books are on your list?

Here is what I came up with.  I agree with Jenn, the 7 Harry Potter books, the bible, the Divinci Code, and something by Amanda Quick.
