Starting up this thread again, I can always use new suggestions! Our church recently started a book club, and last night we discussed the book The Good Nearby by Nancy Moser. I thought it was ok...this author kind of grates on me because things always seem to happen in her books that are just too coincidental to be realistic. But otherwise the story was good.

I'm currently reading Your Chariot Awaits by Lorena McCourtney, a cozy-ish mystery featuring an older lady main character.

I also just finished Wild Child, Waiting Mom by Karilee Hayden and Wendi Hayden English. What a powerful non-fiction memoir by a mom and a daughter, about the daughter's rebellion for 20 years and the parents praying for their prodigal. It really hit me with where my life is right now.

Up next I have Will of Wisteria by Denise Hildreth. Anyone read any of her books? I have read a couple and generally like them.

I just finished the first of the Mitford books, At Home in Mitford, by Jan Karon.  LOVED it!

Our church has a book club also and we've been going for about 4 yrs. We do non fiction through the school year and fiction in the summer. We've read Letter Perfect by Cathy Marie Hake, Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, One Tuesday Morning by Karen Kingsbury, The Trouble with Tulip by Mindy Starns Clark, The Canopy by Angela Hunt ( I think it may have been a different book), and many others. If you want to check out my books that I've read, you could go to shelfari.com and look at my virtual bookshelf. I think my username is bigguysmama or it'd be under Mimi Baker. I have no idea since I never search for myself. Here are some other books/authors I enjoy: Camy Tang "Sushi for One?", Kristen Heitzmann, Lauraine Snelleing, Lori Wick, Linda Chaikin, Maureen Lang, Sharon Hinck "The Restorer", Tracie Peterson "A Lady of High Regard", Susan May Warren "Reclaiming Nick", Jane Orcutt "All the Tea in China" (this author passed away this past year), James Scott Bell, Lori Copeland, Lynn Morris "Cheney Duvall Series", Judith Miller "Lights of Lowell Series, and Dee Henderson. That's just the tip of the ice burg. If you have any questions, let me know!

Happy Reading

Just finished The Copper Scroll by Joel C. Rosenberg.  It interested me enough that I got out of bed and ordered the two books that preceeded  this one.  First time I've read a mystery/political/faith book.  I liked it.

enjoy

Well, as far as Christian Books go I am reading the Ruby Taylor Mystery Series by Sharon Dunn. I think they are great thus far. Non-christian books (not targeted for Christians but are pretty clean and non-offensive) It's a Mod, Mod, Mod, Mod Murder by Rosemary Martin was just great. I enjoyed it.

I just finished up Unshaken by Francine Rivers.  Its the story of Ruth and Naomi.  I loved what she did with it - powerful stuff.

I just finished Even Now by Karen Kingsbury, and it was a really sweet story of redemption.

Every christian needs to read "Safely Home" by Randy Alcorn.  There are also some other good books by him like "Edge of Eternity" and "Deadline", if you like these kind of stories.

I am reading Tracie Peterson's The Alaskan Quest Series right now and would highly recommend this series.  I just bought Karen Kingsbury's new book Between Sundays but haven't started it yet.  I am trying to save it to read on the plane at Christmas.   I'm not sure if I will be able to wait that long but I'm going to try!!

I've just started Safely Home.  My pastors wife lent it to me; she said it was really good.
