PREACHERS KIDS--that's what Opal Ringer and Jesse Pegler were. But you couldn't convince Opal that they had anything else in common. Her dad preached at an impoverished Fundamentalist church, and the kids in school all teased her about being a Holy Roller. Jesse's dad was a famous tv evangelist. Jesse had even been on TV and was kind of a local celebrity. It was obvious to Opal that he was a "have" and she was a "have not". Yet what if there was a way to keep her faith and join the "haves" too? After all, things sometimes happen when you don't expect them to--even miracles...
