What got you interested in this genre? What was the first chic lit book you read?

I started reading Chic Lit last year when I found one of the Shopaholic books by Sophie Kinsella in the book store. I thought it looked good so I got it and became hooked on all of the Shopaholic books. Then I read her other two books and now I am hooked on reading chic lit!

I read janet evanovich and then saw her listed her then others saying it wasn't ch ick lit then some saying it 'sorta' was but I liked some of those and then saw teh definitions and read the recomended 'jemima j' and liked it though it was different from other stuff I'd read. I'm still sorta new to this genre (I read mostly romance, romantic suspense, cozies) but so far I've liked the 'hen lit' recs people have given!

I think I just really got into the genre after I read the first Bridget Jones book. Now I'm obsessed with chicklit. The Shopaholic series is my favorite. I think the british chicklit is the best chicklit.

I'm new to Chic lit too. I love the Janet Evanovich books. Anything that can make me laugh that much has to be good. I never really wanted to read chic lit. I always thought it would be to sappy but I'm happy to say I'm going to try some more. I just order two books in the Nerd series. They sound like they could be something that gets me laughing on my couch while my husband and son give me the You Are So Warped look. Wish me luck, I am so in need of some new Authors.

It is weird because I used to only read V.C. Andrews books.  I came across LIttle Children by Tom Perrotta in the new release section of the library and loved it.   On the same shelf was the book "Eat Cake" by Jeanne Ray.  I liked her writing style so much that I went Ebay and looked her up. One of her books was listed in a lot of chick lit books, and I became hooked~  The book that really sealed it for me was the Nanny Diaries.  That and Save Karyn are my very favorite books.

I can't remember what book got me into the genre, but I do remember reading Bridget Jones Diary way before it became a movie, so maybe it was that book.  I can remember the first book I went out to buy when I found out that there was a list of books called chick lit out there...Jemima J.

The very first chic lit book that I read and loved was In Her Shoes by Jennifer Weiner.  I loved this book and couldn't put it down.  After reading it I had to go get all the other books that she had written which I have also loved!!
