Sometimes, on the book category, it will say it a mystery or a romance or something and then will also say "sub stores". What does that mean? Anybody know? |

Do you mean sub-genre? Romance > Historical > United States? ETA: are you referring to this site or another? If it is not genre, can you provide a sample of what you are describing - webpage?? Last Edited on: 9/4/11 9:09 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

I have wondered about that also. One of my books shows "Genres: Literature & Fiction, Substores." When you click on "Substores" it takes you to a Search Page with several thousand results. The first page shows all religious texts, except for one book: Mog the Forgetful Cat. Last Edited on: 9/4/11 9:23 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

If I open the book data for the book you described hro, the Genre is Literature & Fiction, Contemporary, General. I will look into this, this is not a option to choose when adding genre. Glenda, were you referring to the same thing? |

I'm thinking it is caused by the Genre line under Literature & Fiction with just the
I think it is an input error that would probably go away if that extra Genre line were removed |

Sorry, I forgot to watch this topic and just now found it again. I see that hro knows what I'm talking about, but I don't see it when I click on the link for the book that was given. I can't think of a specific book that I've seen that was posted this way under Genre. Next time I find one, I'll post a link to it. I've been seeing this ever since I became a member in 2009, so it's nothing new. When I first saw it, I thought it might mean that they were... er... naughty books. I've seen enought now to know that's not the case.

When you look at hro's bookshelf you see Literature & Fiction , Substores listed on the book for Genres. When you go to the book details page, you don't see Substores, you see Literature & Fiction and --. I am betting that the -- listed is what is causing Substores to be listed. But Robin says that that can't be deleted in the edit approval process. Maybe an edit can be submitted to replace that line with another Genre option to get rid of it, I don't know, but I place my bets on that being the reason Substores is showing up as a Genre listing. |

OK, Melanie. I see what you're saying. So substores doesn't really have a meaning then. No wonder I haven't been able to figure it out. |
