Ive been noticing a lot lately that books in the paranormal genre wind up getting professional reviews like If you like LKH then you'll love these. (Thats actually a turn off for me BTW) For the most part the only thing the books will have in common with a LKH book will be that they are paranormals. Are critics so lazy that they just give generic comparisons to a popular author of the genre? Thats really lame.

I've noticed that too, but I tend to skip most reviews like that, I'd rather hear how a "normal" person felt about the book.

they do that because LKH is a best selling author and they want to sell books.  They don't take into consideration those of us who are no longer avid fans.

The LKH generic stamp of approval isn't going to sell a book to me either.   Maybe a few years ago but  not now.    I'm thinking of posting some of them.   I'll probably keep the Merry Gentry ones but list everything else.

I think it is laziness. "Oh, this series sells well and has a fiesty lady and vampires and whatnot. Let's namecheck it on the cover!" I agree with it not being a turn-on, I loved the first few LKH books but when she went off to do vampire porn like almost all the other vampire literature out there I gave up.

I just started reading paranormal romance books lately (by mistake but I like them) - forgive my ignorance but, Who is LKH?

Laurell K. Hamilton. She writes The Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. The early books are great. The last one I read was mostly sex thru the whole book. I love the plot and if she would get back to the original idea of the storyline I would continue to be a huge fan. Course that does't mean I'm not going to get Harlequin but not til its in PB.

The Harlequin IS better, Kathi...  It's more like the early books :)  I was REALLY happy with it :D

Oh yes I have read several of her books.  I don't see what the bid deal is about her.

I think it's really annoying marketing gimmick that they need to stop doing. They do that with Buffy The Vampire Slayer, too. If it has vampires and a female protagonist they compare it to one or the other.
