http://www.booksamillion.com/search?query=159448385X&where=Bargains&search.x=0&search.y=0&search=Search

)

have 0 waitlisters and the, as far as I can tell, identical

One is a trade paperback size (zero wishers) and the other is regular sized.  Although, I suspect that second listing (with 751 wishers) might be wrong, based on the publishers name.  It's listed as a paperback, but the publisher is Riverhead Hardcover, while the first book is also listed as paperback but published by Riverhead Trade.

At Amazon when I scroll down and look at the Product Details / Size they both look like Trade paperbacks.  The second one says (International export edition).  I’m confused too.

Most likely people haven't noticed that the mass market paperback edition in in the system.  IF they think all versions are WL and they pull up WL books then the one with 0 wishers won't show up.  It'll only show up under all books.  If you have the non-WL version-post it and then tag the WL version with "posted under ISBN xxxx".  I find when I post a different version of a WL books it's normally snapped up pretty quickly without much effort to advertise it on my part. Unless I have a version that's heavily posted and the WL is for audio or large print or some rarer collectable type version.

The one one with 0 wishers was released last November and is a reprint.  So, most likely, the other edition was wishlisted by members well before this reprint came out and they don't know that this other version is avaiable.  The edition with the 750+ wishers has reviews dating as far back at Sept of 2007.

I've seen wishlists where there are over 1000 wishers.

Eat This Not That: Thousands of Simple Food Swaps That Can Save You 10, 20, 30 Pounds-or More! Currently 1190 wishers (I'm on this wishlist but at 290.

In Defense of Food: The Myth of Nutrition and the Pleasures of Eating Currently has 1265 wishers and on this one, I'm even closer to the top (37). When I put it on my wishlist, there were over 800 wishers.

I don't know what is in now but the WL for Dead and Gone which came out 2 wks ago was over 1,000 when I took my name off.  I bought it because I love Charlaine Harris and I was #300 and something.

Whats really weird is that there appears to be 80+ people on hold wishing for the one showing 751 wishers because when I added it to my WL I was 838 out of 838. I am thinking that it is a rarely posted book and a good number of the people wishing have gotten other versions and didn't get this one off of their WL at the time.

MMP's are mass market paperbacks, which are the smaller standardized size of paperbacks - like the ones that you see on racks in the convenience stores and airports.   MMP's cost anywhere from $7.99 - $9.99 retail (new).

Trade paperbacks are the larger paperbacks and they don't really have a standard size.   In general, they are about the size of a hardback.  Trade paperbacks cost anywhere from $9.99 on up.   The quality of the paper and binding in a trade paperback is usually better also, which means that the book will last longer.

When PBS just says paperback for a description, it means the binding and doesn't refer to the size of the book at all.  It could be a MMP or a trade paperback.

Why do the sizes matter?  Well, many people much prefer the trade paperbacks.  They are larger, easier to hold and read and in general have a better binding.

I recently posted one that has over 1,000 wishers:

http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780385340991-The+Guernsey+Literary+and+Potato+Peel+Pie+Society

I'd never heard of it before I found it at a thrift store, but I did enjoy it.
