I first stumbled upon this author when I read the book The Girls He Adored. After reading it I was hooked and quickly read Fear Itself and Twenty-Seven Bones. The newest of his books that features, E.L. Pender a former FBI agent who speciality is serial killers, is When She Was Bad. This book continues the story of Ulysses Maxwell a serial killer with, DID (dissociative identity disorder) which to us lay people is multiple personality disorder. The book starts out with a girl by the name of Lily who has DID. When Lily suffers a emotional devastating loss she changes personalities and goes on the lam. Track down by her psychiatrist Dr. Irene Cogan, and Pender, take her and commit her to a psychiatric hospital for treatment. Dr. Cogan is not sure this is the best way to help Lily but her uncle insists. At the hopital Dr. Cogan is scared because she know that Maxwell is committed there and he had kidnapped her and almost killed her in The Girls He Adore. Maxwell has seemed to change into only one personality and when he mets Lily he falls in love. The rest is a amazing fast pace thrill that has to be experienced.
