Excellent book. Emotionally wounded hero who has the capacity to love but will not allow himself to do so. Finally learns to forgive and he is released from the pain in his soul and can then allow love into his life.

I love the way this book starts. Emily is hired by Gavin Blake's dying wife, Dru, to be governess and teacher to her 2 daughters. Dru is dying and actually wants her husband, Gavin, and Emily to find love with each other. This idea is so different from any book I've read. Dru's plan works but Gavin and Emily fight their feelings(they, of course, are unaware that the other has feelings for them) because of Dru. I loved this book! I felt it was such an interesting concept to have the hero's first wife alive through half of the book.

Nice romance book about a man who refuses to let go of past hurts and feel with his heart and a woman who wants to love the man but he will not let her in his heart. Emily Harris is hired by Gavin Blake's dying wife to be the teacher and nanny for her 2 girls. A beautiful and refined young woman from the city, Gavin didn't think Emily could handle the harsh frontier life. Emily set about to prove him wrong and in the process fell in love with him.Dru, Calvins dying wife accepted the attraction Emily had for her husband and prayed Gavin would come to accept it after she had passed on.
