While searching for revente against life's cruelties, Bliss McVay discovers instead that genuine love can be found.

Bliss McVay is the "ugly duckling" in a family of traditionally beautiful women. Withdrawing into a world of her own, Bliss entertains two fantasies--one a beautiful daydream and the other a recurring nightmare. Intuitively, she feels that one day the dreams will become reality.

Under false pretenses, Bliss is selected by a fashion magazine for a beauty "makeover." Sharing the secret with no one, she meets Matthew Thorson, a former actor, who now has a mysterious handicap--one worse than her own. It is he who introduces her to God "in Person." And in a most surprising way.
