Flashing on my screen is repeating cycles is a Member Appreciation Book offer.  Suggestive cover titled Quarry/s Climax with raunchy description.   We don't allow trash like this in our house.  Never ordered or posted a book like this why to the think I will appreciate it?????  I see another one and I am out of here.  I did send a screen shot to the internet screening site.

David,

On your profile you have mystery thriller titles listed on your wishlist. As well as a few mystery/thrillers posted to your bookshelf for others to request. The book you are referring to quarrey's climax is a book that is part of a mystery thriller series. This is why the site probably thought it might interest you. I think  sending a screenshot to an internet screening site was a little over the top.  But everyone is entitled to their own opinions and reading preferences.

This was a forced, non optional displayed advertisement.  I could care less what anyone chooses to read.  I do have the right to complain about displays forced on 11-13 year old kids.  If you think that was an appropriate ad to display to children, then we live on different planets.

I believe you need to be 18 to be a member of this website. "This Site may be used only by persons 18 years of age or older. National Book Swap [PBS] makes no representations whatsoever regarding the suitability of any items exchanged through this Site."

If you are under 18, and wish to swap books here:

  • Please ask an adult family member who lives in your house about trading books for you.
  • If you already have an account with us, and you are a minor, we will contact you soon about closing your account.
    • Any credits that you may have can be transferred to a family member that is over 18 in your home (minus any startup credits that were obtained through the opening of this "illegal" account).
    • If neither of your parents is registered, we hope one of them will register with us, and we will certainly welcome you back as a member when you turn 18!

If you are a parent who wants to register an account for your underage child, we are sorry, but you cannot do so.

  • We know that this may seem an inconvenience for you or your child, but we instituted this policy on the advice of legal counsel.
  • We cannot guarantee your child's safety on the Internet, nor assure you that your child will be protected from child-inappropriate content.
  • We support the love of books and reading in children! But we want them to be safe, too. So please, use your account to swap books for them, until they turn 18.
  • The PBS Terms of Use are a legal contract, and persons under 18 cannot sign legal contracts in the US.

Who or what is " an internet screening site " anyway?

David, as you say, you do have the right to complain. You've been a member long enough to know you can use the 'contact us button' at the bottom of the page to voice your complaint to PBS.

I know what you mean David. EVERY time I turn on PBS I get the same cover picture. Two half naked people "going at it".

I like romance books, but EVERY time I log onto PBS. I wish it would stop.

I have been offered that book as well, and agree that book cover is disgusting.  I wish there was a  "don't show this again" option like pop-up ads, because I get the same Member Appreciation Book offers all the time.

I never get offered Member Appreciation Books. So I searched for the reason.  Here it is:

Be sure that you have chosen "favorite genres" in your Account Settings

Members who do not have favorite genres chosen will not get MAB offers.

That's weird Diane as my fave genres are set to mysteries and thrillers only.
