I bought this book after seeing a quilt at the State Fair that used the designs in this book. The quilt told a story of African American women making a quilt. The book offers several paper piecing patterns of women making quilts. There are several instructional chapters in the book including how to adapt the patterns. The women who made the quilt I saw adapted the pieces to tell their African American history. The blocks are detailed but the end result is worth it.
