I really want to be brought into the world of romance or erotic books but I don't know where to start. I really like vampires so I am sure you can go off of that theme. I also like stories that take place on the prarie or olden days in the mountains (think Francine Rivers' Redeeming Love). I will read anything from soft to hardcore love stories. Give me some ideas for where to start and try to make them easy-to-access (listed here would be good). Thanks!

Vampires: Kresley Cole has a series of books  called Immortals After Dark.   A Hunger Like No Other is the first then No Rest For The Wicked and then Wicked Deeds on a Winter Night.  There's a 4th coming out. I've only read the 1st and have the 2nd in my tbr pile.

Good ones guys. My wishlist/reminder list is growing. What about the other kind of books? Where their theme is the beginning or roots of America. ex. gold rush, native americans, hard winters in cabins. Anything come to mind?

There's Cassie Edwards. But her books are pretty much all the same.  If you read one you've pretty much read them all.  Most of hers are Native American old west ones.

Try Elizabeth Lowell's "Only" series.  I think the order is:  Only His, Only Mine, Only You and Only Love.  If you like those then she wrote a couple more, Autumn Lover and Winter Fire.  Oh, and Reckless Love is a stand alone but it is really, really good, too.  Have fun!

Diane Whiteside has a series of erotic historicals.  I'm reading the 1st one The Irish Devil.  It's about a widow in a gold-rush AZ town who becomes a rich Irishman's submissive for 3months to earn the $$ to start over somewhere else.  I have the River Devil as well in the TBR pile.  There are 2 more The Souther Devil and the Northern Devil.  She has a website if you want to look them up.

Ok I've read 2 books by Gena Showalter: Awaken Me Darkly and Enslave Me Sweetly. I think these are good for someone who only wants a little romance.  Mostly they are action, adventure, thriller type books. Both are about woman who hunt Aliens for the gov't and happen to fall in love.  And by Aliens I mean actual aliens not like Mexicans who've snuck over the border. But honest to god aliens that prey on humans.

OK I was just digging through my pile of need to read WL books. I found some vampire books. Actually I think only Tempted in the Night by Robin Popp is WL. So you might be able to find the other 2 on here.  I haven't read them yet.  The other 2 are Night Bites by Nina Bangs and His Immortal Embrace which is a vampire anthology.

And Beth Williamson- she has a 'Devils on Horseback' series and also The Mallory Family- here are links to one of each- Nate by Beth Williamson and The Prize by Beth Williamson- also very good!
