So if you have an offer like that in your signature and someone orders a book from you but doesn't pm you w/their free choice..., Do you pm them and offer them one for free? Or do you just send the book they ordered.  I just had 2 book orders come in-2 dif people I checked. One was for a book that was one of my original 9bks, 2ks ago.  So I doubt it was on anyone's WL. It was never put on WL hold.  The other was one that I had just listed literally a short time before the order came in-I never saw it go into WL hold or the 1hr wait.  But neither has PM'd for a free book.  On the one hand if they asked I would send the freebie.  On the other hand-why send a free book I don't have to, ya know?  Just wondering what others do in this situation.

Don't PM, just assume that they are not interested in a freebie if you hear nothing to the contrary, that's what I do.  Also wait a couple hours before you package the book, maybe they are slow to PM you.

I don't PM either, I just figure that order came thru the FIFO system or they didn't find anything else on my shelf they wanted.

I'd hate to hold up a regular order waiting for someone to get back to me on freebies.  I figure if they saw my siggy, they'll be sending me a PM right after their order anyway.

They may have ordered the book via FIFO and aren't even aware that you are doing a deal. In those cases, it is your decision to pm and let them know about it. Sometimes we forget that a majority of the members don't even look in the forums and will not see deal postings.

I pm. #1 I want to get rid of books and #2 I state that I'm running a special in the forum so it exposes more people to the book bazzar.  Make sure you set a deadline though..ie I'll be mailing Tues so if would like the freebie, I'll need to know by Monday night. Otherwise you can get left hanging.

I do not PM because I found out some people do not respond so then you are stuck with a decision when to mail.

I don't pm, for the reasons already stated.  Mostly my freebies are damaged, or unpostables listed in my signature and in the forums, so I wouldn't  assume that a person ordering FIFO would be interested in them.   On the rare occasions when I might offer 2 for 1 or some other deal, the chances of getting an order during that time would probably slim as I maybe average two orders a month, if that.

I PM and let them know about the deal.   I have had people do this for me before and it is SOO nice.

I PM people when they order books I have the next of in a series, or if I have a book similar to what they ordered. I don't PM 2 for 1 deals. I'm trying to get rid of books but I also like credits! :)

Sometimes I PM, sometimes I don't. It's totally up to you whether you do or not, and it's not wrong either way. No need to feel obligated to do so, but like Marie said, do set a date for them to respond by, so that you are not left waiting.

If you do decide to pm, make sure to give them a reply deadline.  Say something like "Thanks for the order....I'm running a 2-1 deal right now.  If you would like to choose a freebie, please let me know by ___________. "  Then if they haven't responded in time, you can still go ahead and mail the book without feeling the need to wait on them forever.

It all depends on what they order.  If it is something like a small romance book I might ask if they want another one.  Otherwise I assume they don't read the forums or don't want another book or it was an order through the FIFO system.  and sometimes it depends on my mood!  *L*
