I am looking for the recipe for a whole wheat chalah.

I make a great chalah now but I am trying to make all my breads whole wheat.  I do use a bread machine but I could translate a standard bread recipe to a machine one.

Thanks.

Leyba

This is the recipe that I use.  My children LOVE it

Old Fashion Chalah bread

2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour 3 cups unbleached or all purpose flour 2 pkgs. Or rapid rise yeast or 1 1/2 tbsp. instant-active yeast 1 1/2 tsp salt Add half flour and all yeast and salt, Put in bag Add 1 2/3 cups very warm water (120 degrees) 1/4 cup oil or softened margarine 1/4 cup honey Squeeze air out of bag and work until well mixed Add other half of flour mix well - can add more flour if needed - should feel like play-dough Rest the dough for 10 minutes. Spray cookie sheet

Break dough apart in 3 equal pieces.  Roll Each piece into a long snake shape, and braid the dough.  Place on cookie sheet and brush egg white over all for a glossy coat.
