If you can't find the book it has no reason being on your shelf.  Find the book then put it back on your shelf.  If you cancel a book order because of requestor conditions it puts you back on top the FIFO line. But if you cancel for your own reasons it assumes you don't have the books, it unpostable or something.  Removing it from your shelf keeps it from being offered to another person that you will have to turn down.
