This is a really good book about a teacher in the Midwest who moves out of her comfort zone to prove corruption and murder when one of her students dies. She's a little whacky, and so is her best friend, but they muddle through the clues, and manage to save themselves more than once from big trouble. On another level, this is a damning indictment of our culture and its disrespect for children and their wellbeing.
