This is a good mystery with much misdirection as the reader tries along with Sebastian to solve the murders. It is difficult to determine which of the many suspects is responsible. Interestingly enough, two people are guilty. Thoroughly enjoyed the role his wife, Hero, plays. Of course, she is a nontraditional woman for the era. I did not really understand why two of the murders were committed since they seemed remotely connected to the motives. However, it's a good read and a worthwhile mystery to peruse. Sebastian is a complex and fascinating character who narrowly avoids the murderers himself in this tale. And, his good friend, Gibson, adds much to this tale with his own observations and personal problems.

This is numbest 9 in the series and it does not disappoint. A great historical mystery with twist and turns on every page.
A wonderful book in the St. Cyr mystery series.

Loved it, I enjoy this series and it is always spot on. Ms. Harris has not fallen short and keeps up the suspense and great research into the period. Read it!
