This was my first read by Anya Bast, and I loved it. It takes place in a sidhe world between the Seelie and Unseelie factions, specifically between a totally hunk incubus and a tough-as-nails fey. While the mystery and near-war is definitely the focus, there is still plenty of steam. I'm looking forward to catching up on her first series now.

This is actual Dark Magick 2 if you could the prequel "Sweet Enchantment" found in "Hot For The Holidays" ISBN: 9780515147001.
I enjoyed the book, but IMHO the Seelie Court is a little more cruel than LKH world for Meredith Gentry (#1 book = 9780345423405 A Kiss Of Shadows) and not as sexy.

I have found this new series of Bast's to be hard to get into. Also didn't feel like it lived up to her normal steamy books, which is too bad when writing about a half-incubus.
Enjoyable. I started off not liking Aislinn, but then she changed and I realized she wasn't the weak, selfish, shallow character I thought she was. Selfish, shallow, and weak DOES fit most of the characters living in the Rose Tower. A decent storyline and enjoyable secondary characters (some who will get their own book since there are 3 more in this series).
One thing: This made for some interesting and at times, exhausting reading- the names.
