An excellent book!!! Based loosely on Ohio's first woman sheriff in 1925. This transports us so well to the place and time with rich characters and setting. The struggles of the townspeople trying to take care of their families in a poor mining town (think Sixteen Tons by Tennessee Ernie Ford). I resented real life interruptions and I didn't want to put it down. I LOVED the ending but I am happy to find this is the beginning of a series.
